Consistency Rules at Futures Prop Firms: 15%, 30%, 40% and 50% Compared
A consistency rule can block a pass even after you hit the profit target. What each percentage means, how to calculate it, and which firms have none.
A consistency rule limits how much of your total profit can come from a single day. It exists to stop one lucky trade from passing an evaluation.
How to calculate it
Best day ÷ total profit ≤ the rule percentage
On a 50K account with a $3,000 target and a 40% rule, no single day can be more than $1,200 when you pass. If your best day was $1,800, you need total profit of at least $4,500 ($1,800 ÷ 0.40) before the account passes.
What each level feels like
| Rule | Max best day on $3,000 profit | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| 50% | $1,500 | Most traders; only very lumpy days hit it |
| 45% | $1,350 | Steady intraday traders |
| 40% | $1,200 | Traders who size consistently |
| 30% | $900 | Traders who grind small, even days |
| 20% or 15% | $600 or $450 | Funded-stage payout rules, not evaluations |
Evaluation rules by firm
| Firm and program | Evaluation | Funded |
|---|---|---|
| Top One Futures Elite Challenge | None | 25% |
| Blue Guardian Futures Standard | None | 40% |
| FundedNext Futures Legacy | Plan rules | None after passing |
| Lucid Trading LucidFlex | 50% | None |
| YRM Prop Starter | 50% | Payout cycle rules |
| Blue Guardian Futures Reserve | 50% | None |
| TradeDay Fast Pass | 45% | Newer-account rule |
| Funded Futures Family Velocity | 40% | Plan rules |
| Traders Launch | 40% | None |
| The5ers Futures | 40% | 40% |
| TradeDay Quick Pay | 30% | Policy based |
Two ways to beat the rule
- Pick a program without one. Top One Elite Challenge and Blue Guardian Standard have no evaluation consistency rule.
- Cap your daily profit. Once you are up the rule percentage of the target on a day, stop trading. It feels backwards, but it is faster than overshooting and needing extra days.
Watch the funded stage
A program with no evaluation rule often adds one to payouts (Top One Elite Challenge adds 25%). Programs with a strict evaluation rule sometimes drop it once funded (LucidFlex and Traders Launch). Decide which stage matters more to you.

Usually the account is not failed. You simply need more total profit before you pass or can request a payout.
